Bio
Patti Ramsey comes from a long line of Houston cooks, and she continues her family’s passion for food through her company, Epicurean Group, LLC. Epicurean Delight is the company’s full-service catering arm, providing fine foods for parties and events of all sizes and descriptions, and Epicurean Lite provides healthy and flavorful meals for home or office delivery. A self-taught gourmet cook, Ramsey is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Art History. Before devoting herself to cooking professionally, she worked in a number of areas, including personal and motivational development, corporate and private art consulting, commercial printing, and financial investment. She turned to her true passions – food and entertaining – full-time in 1995. Ramsey’s heritage in the culinary profession runs deep. Her uncle is the late George Valian, who opened Valian’s Restaurant in 1946 on South Main across from the former Shamrock Hotel. The restaurant, fondly remembered by generations of Houstonians, was best known for introducing pizza to Houston. With her Mediterranean heritage (Italian and Armenian) and family background in the food business, Ramsey developed a way to have the best of two worlds – food with great flavor and healthful at the same time. Ramsey's professional expertise has also included personal chef training, food styling for television, cooking demonstrations and classes. She is an active member of Christ Church Cathedral, is married to Ben and is the mother of Ben, Jr. and Savannah. Other organizations and activities: Les Dames d’Escoffier, Houston Culinary Guild, Women’s Group of Houston, M.D. Anderson Guest Chef, Methodist Weight Loss Center, Guest Speaker, Central Market Cooking Demonstrations - Oct. 2007, June 2008 - Queen of Lean vs. Queen of Cream, Nov. 2008 - Ho Ho & Healthy, Feb. 2009 - Valentine’s Dinner, Jan. 2010 - Luxurious & Lean, and March 2010 - Armenian Easter.
